Parents are often baffled by the problems presented by a child with learning disabilities. Often this “invisible disability”does not become obvious until a child reaches school age. Even then, difficulties may be subtle
and hard to recognise.
Coat of Many Colours Africa is a non-profit support and information system for parents and schools of children with learning challenges. Ourgoal is to help families and schools take charge of their children/wards’ special conditions and help them achieve in life.
It is a dream project of Anthonia Olubunmi Alabi, an educational consultant and Chief Consultant at Promoworld Educational Consult and her husband, Steve Olayinka Alabi, a Creative Consultant and Web Developer, whose company, Mc Rufus Interactive is the Technology partner in Coat of Many Colours.
The years of Promoworld Educational Consult’s working and providing support for schools in the areas of consultation and Teacher Support for effective development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for children with Learning Difficulties (LD) has revealed certain issues, especially that of poor involvement of parents due to lack of understanding of the child’s condition, and potentials to be unveiled with proper understanding and giving the right support.
Coat of Many Colours Africa have a partner network of specialist health practitioners, educators and special schools who share the same vision with us.
While currently operating in Ghana and Nigeria, our vision is to be able to give support to as many children and families as possible across Africa.
